• ASP.NET AJAX and the Map Control

  Microsoft has created an add-on to ASP.NET called ASP.NET AJAX, which as you may have guessed is designed to make creation of AJAX sites easier. Ever since it was called Project Atlas I have been weary of how they were going to do this and I'm not convinced that the solution they are using in RC1 is necessarily very good. But who cares about my opinion? Using the map control with this extension may cause some problems as described here. My conclusion is that there is no real need to use the control with ASP.NET AJAX as it already has its own callback functions and can take external input using the ExternalCallback event.
